Strathclyde Country Park is located at:

366 Hamilton Road
Motherwell
ML1 3ED

We’re expecting a high volume of traffic each day therefore when travelling to the event, we’d recommend walking, cycling or using public transport.

We have bike racks available on site near the water sports centre next to the event area.

If choosing to use public transport, there are several options:

  • A bus stop is situated at the Motherwell entrance to the park (entrance nearest event site).
  • There are two nearby train stations, Motherwell and Airbles Road, from where you can either walk, or take public transport to the park.

We have limited car parking within the park. Car parks 2, 3 and 4 will be available for use on event days, and are closest to the event site.

There are 30 disabled parking spaces available on the Lochside Concourse (main disabled parking area), with an additional 10 available in car park 2. These will be manned by stewards for ease of users.

Other parking within the park includes Clyde Park, Foreshore car parks and Plantation, Fisherman’s car park, Beach car park and Clyde Park grass area.

There are three entrances into the event site. See the event map below to find your way around.

We want to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time at The BIG Family Festival. Here are some helpful hints to make the most of your day:

Before you arrive

We expect a high volume of traffic and visitors to the event site so you may want to consider arriving outside peak times (expected to be busiest between 1pm - 5pm). Please use public transport where possible and if arriving by car, plan your journey in advance. If parking in surrounding areas, please be considerate of neighbouring houses and streets.

To help keep children safe at the event, we encourage them to wear a wristband. We’d recommend writing their name and telephone number on the wristband incase you become separated. We will have wristbands available for collection from the watersports centre, stewards on site or the lost children's area.

Dress for the weather: while we do have some covered areas, this is an outdoor event and therefore appropriate clothing should be worn.

We have managed footfall by asking visitors to book in advance for the event. This will allow us to put all necessary procedures in place for the expected numbers each day.

We would recommend using public transport to travel to the event and planning your travel in advance to ensure a smooth journey. We also have bicycle racks on site for those who would like to cycle to the event, and several car parks available across the park.

On The Day

Be sun sensible: we’re keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine! If we do, remember to apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day.

First aid: we have a team on site to help if you need it. Please make your way to the nearest entrance or locate a member of staff on site.

Security: we will always have staff on site to manage the flow of people. You may be asked to enter or leave through a different entrance if we have too many people in one area.

Please keep an eye out for safety and wayfinding signage and follow directions of staff. We have signage in place in and around the event area to help you enjoy your time at the event.

All food traders & the bar will be card payments only. Craft traders will be a mix - some card payments only, others cash & card. All activities will be free.
