ORGANIZATION HISTORY AND MISSION
The MinKwon Center for Community Action's mission is to empower the Korean American community and work with the wider Asian American and immigrant communities to achieve economic and social justice for all. Since our founding in 1984, we have made a profound presence in the Korean and Asian American communities through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies, civic participation, and the rights of workers and tenants. In its work, the MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of the marginalized, including low-income, limited-English-proficient and undocumented residents.
Job Description
The MinKwon Center is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Civic Participation Director . This individual will work closely with the Executive Director and other staff to oversee MinKwon's civic engagement work to empower the Asian American community through electoral organizing, education and advocacy around voting rights/reforms. The Civic Participation Director will guide MinKwon's efforts in coalition-building, strategic thinking and execution of voter engagement campaigns.
We are seeking an outgoing, action-oriented individual to play a leading role in our voter engagement work in the immigrant, Asian American and Korean American communities. This is a full-time, salaried position.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
1) Regular elections
2) Decennial Census
3) Redistricting through MinKwon and our APA VOICE coalition
