Location: Flexible - California business hours

Commitment: Full Time for duration of Post-Production (3-5 months)

We are in final stages of Post-Production on a groundbreaking, highly visual indie film exploring polarization, deepfakes and disinformation through a movie about two kids ruining each others’ lives.

We are creating seven motion graphics sequences, totaling 12 minutes, visualizing a battle over social media between the two main characters. The audience dives into the internet, which becomes increasingly abstracted, dark, and twisted, until the boundaries between reality and digital life disappear.

This film could not be more timely, and we are pushing to finish the project by the end of the summer.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, driven VFX Producer / Systems Manager to approach the complex challenge of producing a highly visual, unique set of motion graphics sequences, bringing structure and clarity to the process. This isn’t your usual VFX / Post position. It’s more like working at a small startup, and is unique in a number of ways:

• We’ve developed a rich set of documents, vision statements, and tools with information that is far more dense than most indie film projects. Your job is to turn this complexity into a structured, actionable, and efficient pipeline the team can execute on.
• We’re a small indie team where people will be wearing multiple hats.
• We take full advantage of new tech: AI for scripting, and collaboration tools like Dropbox and Slack.
• We are fully independent, which means we can cut through red tape and focus on what works.
• We are completing the rest of the film (score, sound, and color) in parallel to the motion graphics, aiming to have a graded and mixed cut with temp graphics for sales agents by mid-June.

YOUR ROLE

You’ll architect the structure this team needs to function—translating abstract creative goals into production logic, then managing the execution through delivery. Some of your core responsibilities:

Project Planning & Scoping

• Create a plan for execution of the project that is efficient on resources while moving quickly.
• Translate creative documentation into a clear shot list and asset tracker
• Define MVP (minimum viable product) for each sequence so we can make fast triage decisions
• Scope the work required to finish the project and build a comprehensive budget and plan
• Decide on size of team, and hire and onboard members.
• Track timeline and budget and be accountable for on-time completion.

Documentation & Truth Management

• Break down our documentation, specs, and scripts into clear and concise asset lists and task management systems.
• Create a single source of truth for information, so that once decisions are made they are accessible by all stakeholders.
• Reduce dependencies on the Director for important information so they can focus on the creative.

File Management

• Ensure documentation and clarity around file management systems, asset names, and resource sharing (we use Dropbox for collaboration.)
• Ensure clear project and asset management and regular backups to drives and S3.

Communication & Coordination

• Act as the primary logistical contact for vendors, handling asset deliveries, feedback, and quality assurance.
• Run efficient regular production meetings, identifying risks early, clearly assigning action items, and tracking follow-up closely.

Post Supervision

• Manage completion of color grade, sound mix, and conform.

Our team consists of the Director and VFX Supervisor, and we will be hiring designers, comp artists, and others. We aim to be lean, and can hire additional help as needed to execute most efficiently.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience as a VFX Manager , bonus points for experience as a Post Supervisor
• Experience working in indie productions where people wear multiple hats, doing more with less
• Familiarity with Shotgrid, Google Sheets, Slack, and Dropbox.

• Favor automation over manual work , solving problems by writing scripts.

TIMELINE

We are looking for someone to start immediately, and are aiming to hit the ground running and quickly scale up, completing the sequences within three months.
