Don's Prepared Foods is the leading manufacturer on the East Coast of prepared gourmet deli salads, gourmet cream cheese spreads, dips, entrée’s and more.  Don's is a family-owned business and manufactures over 130 products spanning across its three brands Don's Salads, Melanie's Medleys and Artisan Deli. 

We are seeking a Cook to join the Production department at our Schwenksville, PA food manufacturing plant. This is an hourly, non-exempt position that starts at 3AM from Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate is a dynamic team player who will help Don's achieve our mission of providing high-quality prepared product to our customers. 

Job responsibilities:

Start time for the Cook position is 3am, Monday-Friday (must be flexible with end times) .

Make sure all ingredients that require cooking, blanching, and chilling are done in a manner that protects food safety, meets all Critical Control Points (CCP’s), and make sure they are documented properly.

Prepare, cook/chill and properly label the food ingredients used in the production of the Don’s Salads product line.

Follow internal recipes and production procedures to maintain the quality.

Defrost all ingredients necessary for the following days production.

Thoroughly clean and sanitize the kitchen especially for allergens between cooks and at the end of the day. 

Ensure all USDA, FDA, SQF and HACCP regulations are fulfilled daily. 

Ensure a clean and safe environment

Communicate with Production management team

Competencies:

* Ability to r ead, write, comprehend, in English and follow recipes and understand proportions.

Must have cooking knowledge and terminology.

Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP).

Ability to follow recipes and understand portions.

Ability to weigh and read a scale accurately. Ability to perform and understand basic math calculations

Requirements 

* Must be able to consistently lift 40 to 50 pounds.

Employee stands for long periods of time.

* Cook room is hot, production areas are refrigerated at 34 to 38 degrees. 

Be able to push, pull and mix product.
