NICU Nurse Manager – Level III | Full-Time, Days

Location: Palm Springs, CA

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced NICU Nurse Manager to lead our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Palm Springs, California. This is a full-time, day shift leadership role, responsible for managing clinical operations, staff performance, and patient care outcomes in a highly specialized neonatal environment.

As the NICU Manager , you’ll provide strategic and hands-on leadership to a team of skilled neonatal nurses and support staff, ensuring high-quality, family-centered care. You will work closely with the NICU Director , Medical Director , and interdisciplinary teams to maintain regulatory compliance, promote staff development, and uphold excellence in neonatal care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide 24/7 operational leadership for the Level III NICU, overseeing clinical and administrative functions.
• Supervise and support a team of NICU RNs, clinical managers, resource nurses, and ancillary staff.
• Ensure compliance with Title 22, TJC, CDPH, CCS, and other regulatory standards.
• Lead staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and staff development activities.
• Collaborate with NICU Director and Medical Director to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience.
• Facilitate department meetings, participate in performance improvement initiatives, and maintain department metrics.
• Manage budgeting, supply procurement, equipment planning, and department productivity.
• Provide occasional direct patient care and respond to emergencies when needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of NICU nursing experience, including at least 3 years in NICU leadership.
• Current California RN license.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required (in progress considered with planned completion date).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – current certification.
• BLS Certification – American Heart Association (must be current).
• Certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) or equivalent from a nationally accredited body (in progress considered).

Preferred:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration.
• NRP Instructor Certification.
• Experience with critical care neonatal transport.
