How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Electronic Assembly Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the department, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. You manage and support staff, ensuring that team members are trained, motivated, and aligned with company standards. A key part of your role includes scheduling shifts, monitoring performance, addressing concerns or issues among team members, and ensuring that all product assembly meets established quality standards. You are accountable for meeting departmental objectives and contributing to broader company goals, with a strong focus on productivity, safety, and continuous improvement.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Daily Management
  • Monitor and track departmental performance metrics, including schedule adherence, past-due shop orders, standard variances, and repair/rework rates.
  • Ensure all team members operate in compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any quality issues identified within the mechanical assembly area.
  • Lead daily shift startup meetings to align the team on goals, updates, and safety topics.
  • Conduct interviews and assist in the hiring process for open department positions.

  1. Documentation
  • Track, update, and publish departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain and update QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control) boards to reflect real-time data and improvement progress.
  • Review and approve employee timecards to ensure accuracy in payroll.
  • Conduct and document team member performance evaluations.

3. Continuous Improvement

  • Document processes and procedures to support collaboration with the Procurement department.
  • Maintain 5S workplace organization and cleanliness standards throughout the department.
  • Lead improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (S,Q,C,D).
  • Actively participate in new product development activities, providing feedback from a production perspective.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Education

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of five to seven years’ experience.
  • Significant ERP experience (IFS experience, a plus).
  • Skilled use of all Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in managing an assembly operation.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • ISO9001 Experience.
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles.

Education & Certifications

  • Associate’s/bachelor’s degree preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Onsite, Monday-Friday.
  • 6 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Manufacturing environment, PPE required.
