Job Description

Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.

  • Manage day-to-day AP Expense functions
  • Manage day-to-day AP Control functions
  • Manage hiring, training, and supervising of associates
  • Responsible for accurate and timely payment of expense invoices
  • Responsible for accurate and timely execution of payment processing activities
  • Responsible for accurate set up of vendors and maintenance of the vendor file

Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance

  • Ensure all payments for expenses are accurate and made in a timely manner, maximizing cash flow and maintaining good vendor relationships
  • Manage Expense PO matching process
  • Maintain controls regarding the disbursement of company funds
  • Maintain controls regarding the creation of vendor numbers and maintenance of vendor information
  • Ensure all W-9 information is gathered, 1099s are mailed, and information sent to IRS each year
  • Manage the implementation of AP process or technology improvements
  • Manage associate training and communications as needed, ensuring all associates maintain current knowledge of Family Dollar policies, procedures, and controls
  • Train department associates on proper AP practices as needed
  • Review applicable AP reports and provide information to senior management as needed
  • Reconcile accounts as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in accounting/AP environment
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and wide variety of vendor partners
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of AP internal controls
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills
  • Must be able to use discretion related to confidential information
  • Must be able to work under deadlines while handling multiple priorities
